Another Villain for ‘The Dark Knight Rises’?
Some more news of the next outing for the Dark Knight, from an unusual source. Potential spoilers lay ahead, it’s all rumour and speculation at this point, but if you want to remain completely oblivious then best move on.
At this point in time information about Bane and his role in the film has become common knowledge. The teaser trailer and most recent poster clearly show Bane laying some serious hurt onto Batman. Catwoman has remained more a mystery, with only a few pictures making it into public domain. But more mysterious than Catwoman is the role of Miranda Tate, as played by Marion Cotillard.
Rumours that this “Wayne Enterprises board member eager to help a still-grieving Bruce Wayne resume his father’s philanthropic endeavors for Gotham” could really be Talia al Ghul have done the rounds but been denied. Then a mother in the U.S. has gone public claiming that her eight year old daughter turned down the role of Talia al Ghul because it involved having her head shaved.
Of course it makes no sense that a part offered to an eight year has now been filled by Marion Cotillard (unless she’s a REALLY good actor), but you have to remember that an actor named Josh Pence has been listed as playing a young version of Ra’s al Ghul (Liam Neeson) who will appear in flashbacks set some thirty years before the events of Batman Begins. If this eight year old girl was to appear as Talia in the flashbacks, then Cotillard may be playing the modern day character.
Assuming that this is the case, what part would she have to play in the movie? With the death of Rachel Dawes in the previous film, we could be looking at a new love interest for Bruce Wayne as Talia has long been a romantic interest for him in the comic series, even having his son. The relationship with Batman, Talia and Ra’s has always been an interesting one, one that Nolan would no doubt be keen to explore.
I guess Catwoman’s hooking up with Alfred then, the old dog!
