The Pull List: Must Read Comics of 10/3/2012

Animal Man

Animal Man #13

By: Jeff Lemire and Steve Pugh

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: Here it is, what we all have been waiting for. What Animal Man has been leading up to since it first started. Rotworld epic begins here. Look out for guest stars Justice League Dark and Beast Boy (who’s connection to The Red is finally revealed).

Fablea

Fairest #8

By: Lauren Beukes, Inaki Miranda, and Adam Hughes

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: Part One of a new adventure focusing on Rapunzel and her dealing with her torrid past. There is something about Fairest that I like more than Fables. Maybe it is the fact that it is kind of an anthology of what is happening around the Fables universe while Fables tends to be more about Bigby and Snow cleaning up messes.

Green Lantern #13

By: Geoff Johns, Doug Mahnke, and Ivan Reis

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: So now that we know how Baz got the ring, we can see him in action. Johns wastes no time and puts him head to head with the entire Justice League. Meanwhile, the Guardians finish readying there newest law enforcers, The Third Army.

Swamp Thing #13

By: Scott Snyder and Yanick Paquette

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: This is the other half of the Rotworld saga with Swamp Thing teaming up with Poison Ivy and Deadman. Thank Odin for Snyder and Lemire who have worked so well together making sure that Animal Man and Swamp Thing are essentially always released together. This is more bang for your buck.

Hack Slash #18

By: James Lowder and Matt Merhoff

Publisher: Image Comics

Price: $3.50 (that seems wrong)

The Lowdown: Sorry to be late to the game, but I just found out about the awesomeness that is Hack/Slash. For those who don’t know, this story takes place in a world where “slashers,” killers who are so angry that they won’t stay dead, are a reality. Cassie Hack, the daughter of one of these slashers, goes on the road with her slasher-esque Guy Friday, Vlad, to take these goons out.

Non Humans #1 (of 4)

By: Glen Brunswick and Whilce Portacio

Publisher: Image Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: The solicitation is calling it Blade Runner meets Toy Story. Need I say more? Basically, it is 2041, and a NASA probe brought back a strange disease that brought all our toys too life.

Avengers vs. X-Men #12 (of 12)

By: Ed Brubaker, Olivier Coipel, and Jim Cheung

Publisher: Marvel

Price: $4.99

The Lowdown: That is a pretty penny for a comic book, but this is a extra-sized final issue where we will see how far Cyclops is willing to go. This event was surprisingly good. I kept waiting for it to suck like these events sometimes do just waiting for the status quo to change and have all these nice #1 books to jump on. Yet, this has me excited to see what finally happens.

Daredevil End of Days #1 (of 8)

By: Brian Michael Bendis, David Mack, Klaus Janson, Bill Sienkiewicz, and Alex Maleev

Publisher: Marvel

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: A who’s who of Daredevil creators band together to tell the story of how it all ends for poor Matt Murdock. Hopefully, this is better than all those other “The End” miniseries that Marvel did awhile back.
