Red Hood And The Outlaws #15

By: Scott Lobdell, Timothy Green, Brett Booth

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: Almost as much as Batman, the other Bat-family member I looked forward to facing Joker again after his long hiatus was Red Hood, Jason Todd. Todd’s history with the Joker is well-known. He was beaten within an inch of his life by the Joker and left for dead in an exploding warehouse. This marked the first true failure of Batman, and Todd has been pretty messed up ever since he was resurrected. Guest-starring Red Robin and the Teen Titans.

Wonder Woman #15

By: Brian Azzarello, Cliff Chiang

Publisher: DC Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: Wonder Woman has been causing all kinds of trouble for her Greek myth pantheon. These old gods are afraid that she is leaving them an opening to get replaced by new gods. Anyone with a cursory knowledge of DC Comics canon would be excited at the words new and god being used in a sentence. We’ve already seen Darkseid and the hordes of Apokolips trying to take over the world. Now, after his sneak peak in Wonder Woman #12, Orion is back for his first official appearance that pits him against the Amazon princess.

All New X-Men #4

By: Brian Michael Bendis, Stuart Immonen

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: Past Cyclops meets Present Cyclops finally. Should be some pretty good fireworks.

Avengers #2

By: Jonathan Hickman, Jerome Opeña

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: Avengers #1 was simply amazing. If you haven’t started reading yet, get on it! Quickly! Jonathan Hickman’s penchant for the weird and the limitless possibilities of the comic book medium allows Hickman to bring this weirdness to a blockbuster style book while not sacrificing one for the other. It is a terrific marriage.

Hawkeye #6

By: Matt Fraction, Javier Pulido, David Aja

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $2.99

The Lowdown: Artist David Aja returns to Hawkeye after a short hiatus. Not that the substitute art has been bad, but Aja’s artwork is some of my favorite especially for this noir-ish roof-jumping superhero fare.

Uncanny X-Force #35

By: Rick Remender, Phil Noto, Julian Totino Tedesco

Publisher: Marvel Comics

Price: $3.99

The Lowdown: The finale issue of Rick Remender’s really awesome run on Uncanny X-Force. Wolverine’s X-Men wetworks team has been through a lot: including the possible rebirth of Apocalypse, Arcangel’s sqitch to the dark side, a trip to the Age of Apocalypse, and Daken’s Brotherhood of Even More Evil Mutants. What Remender has left in store for the team before he signs off is being sold as the most shocking thing yet. How more shocking can it get?
