The Pull List: 9/17/2014
Must read comics of the week
Hmmmm, so much of what Marvel has been building to lately. Stark is in his new armor, Thor doesn’t have his hammer, Falcon is in his Captain America gear, and Steve is a wrinkly, scrawny mess. Do or die time? Maybe.
Criminal Macabre: Third Child #1
Cal MacDonald is one of my favorite comic characters. I get giddy whenever Steve Niles is able to crank out one of these characters, and Cal sounds like he might be in his darkest hour yet.
Edge of Spider-Verse #2
Another alternate take on Spidey before the big team up. What if Gwent Stacy got bit by the spider? She gets a pretty cool costume apparently.
Jim Hensons Storyteller Witches #1
I couldn’t tell you how this is associated with Jim Henson, but come on, Jim Henson is awesome. This will be an anthology series recounting a number of different witch fables of all over the globe.
(I can answer that…’Jim Henson’s The Storyteller’ was a TV series aired in the 1980s as a UK/US co-production – it featured dark and sometimes frightening retellings of obscure European folk tales using a combination of live action and ‘Dark Crytal’ style puppets, all narrated by John Hurt! A second series focused on Greek myths. I loved it. – G-Funk)
Multiversity The Society Of Super-heroes #1
One of Grant Morrison’s Multiversity back-up series takes a trip to Earth-20 that is looking especially pulpy. We got a Dr. Fate looking very Rocketteer like and Abin Sur dressed like classic Alan Grant Green Lantern.
Oddly Normal #1
This looks like a Cartoon Network show about a young girl with pointed ears and naturally green hair, who’s mother is a witch from a magical land called Fignation.
Thor God of Thunder #25
Lots of stuff going on. Young Thor vs Frost Giants. Secret origin of Malekith the Accursed. The granddaughters of King Thor uncover a secret about old grandpa. And finally and most controversially, Thor deals with losing the hammer.
